Cerritos Mayor George Ray recently presented a proclamation to the Friends of the Cerritos Library honoring the organization for its outstanding contributions and proclaiming October 16-22, 2016 as National Friends of the Library Week.
Mayor Ray said, “The Friends of the Cerritos Library is to be commended for its dedication to supporting the Cerritos Library through volunteer service and funding for programs such as the Smithsonian Institution exhibition “I Want the Wide American Earth,” Summer Reading Program, art and writing contests for students, and Homework Help.”
In addition, Mayor Ray encouraged everyone to join the Friends of the Cerritos Library and thank the group for all it does to enhance the Cerritos Library and local community.
The proclamation was presented at the Friends of the Cerritos Library Fall Book Sale. The sale was held October 14-16 and raised $4,480. For more information about the Friends of the Cerritos Library, call Padmini Prabhakar at (562) 916-1389.
